Children and the Christ-child

Our friends’ daughter gave birth to a little girl, and last night I got to hold the little bundle.  And this morning I read from the gospel of Luke:
Now they were bringing even infants to him that he might touch them; and when the disciples saw it, they rebuked them. But Jesus called them to him, saying, "Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them; for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it."

Luke 18:15-17

Can you imagine having your infant child in your arms when the Messiah was in your midst? “Lord, bless my child! Help my child to grow up in the protection of your mercy and truth!” That’s what I would have been yelling, and I don’t think I would have been polite trying to get my baby to Him.

Protecting children. That is CFC’s focus. Our passion is to keep children safe from very real threats, such as corrupt educational curriculum, broken families, and even threats in the womb. Thank you for joining with us in 2011.

This week and next, I am making a special and rare appeal to our friends for financial support. As the year comes to a close, please consider a generous gift to the work of CFC.

Most importantly, in this season we’re especially reminded of the eternal gift of the Christ-child to us! May your time with family and friends be centered on this good news of great joy, that the Living God sent His only Son to dwell among men, for our redemption.

Merry Christmas from California Family Council!
