Common Sense Without Compromise

I have a dear friend who leads the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) outreach at a major mid-western university. Last week, I joined with him to participate in a trial seminar with a group of collegians. Before introducing myself to the students, a great deal of time was given to questioning them about their opinions on faith, diversity, and how people can respectfully interact, even though they may have major differences in worldview.

For two hours, open discussion took place about topics ranging from homosexuality, to Christianity, to Proposition 8, to parenting styles, to the extremes of activism. Eventually my worldview was revealed to them, and the room grew very still. But our dialogue continued at full speed, and the response from these students was overwhelmingly positive!

It was an honor and a privilege to represent Truth, and to represent you, with these students. This age population is “ground zero” for California Family Council, but we cannot approach the opportunity with hat in hand, preaching “compromise.”  We must challenge these students, and ourselves, to test every opinion against valid research, and scriptural truth. The opportunity to unapologetically communicate my worldview resulted in many students opening up about their own Christian faith, perhaps for the first time on their campus, with many students of various persuasions approaching me afterward to thank me for the kind and straightforward way that I expressed my opinions. I look forward to telling you more about future prospects in this realm.  

This event is only one piece of the strategy that California Family Council (CFC) is implementing. We have a very clear vision to provide common sense principles and solutions to real-life issues. As a team, CFC is committed to compassionately presenting information that is biblically based and objectively confirmed.
