Historic Marriage Will Win

by Ron Prentice,
Chief Executive Officer

In an extensive survey commissioned by the Alliance Defense Fund (ADF), 62% of Americans say they favor the protection of traditional marriage in law.

62%? What about the reported surge in favor of same-sex marriage, said to now reign as the majority perspective in America? Well, even without this conclusive survey conducted by Public Opinion Strategies, any alert citizen would question such a surge when 31 states’ citizens have strengthened traditional marriage by their vote.

On average, voters state by state have favored the historic and biblical definition of marriage by 63%. It is not by coincidence that ADF’s survey results (62%) closely align with voter statistics, and disagree with other surveys touted by secular media. ADF’s survey was based on the actual question to which voters have responded at the voting booth, “I believe marriage should be defined ONLY as a union between one man and one woman.” Only 35% of those surveyed disagree with this statement.

Unbiased, objective research continues to expose deceptive manipulation by the mainstream media, and our sincere gratitude goes to ADF for its willingness to spend a significant amount of money to develop and accomplish an authoritative research project on marriage.

Last Friday, New York’s Governor and Legislature ignored the state’s citizens – also polled at over 60% favoring the protection of traditional marriage – and placed same-sex marriage into law. The Legislature’s disregard for the people is now bringing previously lethargic people to their feet, and that battle is just beginning. Read my friend Chuck Donovan’s report of the New York decision on the Heritage Foundation Web site.

Likewise, California’s Proposition 8 brought people into the cultural fray for the first time, and its successful passage should empower us to further transformation through engagement in elections, initiatives, and bold truth telling. Next week, I will share with you California Family Council’s plan to awaken and inform younger voters, as we approach the November 2012 general election.

Thank you for your constant encouragement and support!
