Hope and Change: Part 1

The Chasm between Worldviews

If you travel the state you’ll find pockets of communities – Russian, Korean, Armenian, African-American, Vietnamese, Jewish, Basque, Chinese, Latino, and a dozen more. Every population may communicate differently, but they all have something in common: they have experienced persecution and injustice.

And no matter where you look in history, you’ll find that freedoms have been lost – including the freedom to communicate the good news of Jesus Christ – as a government’s control over people has increased. History books and oral tradition reinforce that as leaders are given, or take, more control over people, even the rights that have been bestowed on us by God may be lost.

This is the battle of ideologies, and it begins with every person’s worldview.  Can people placed in power be left without a system of accountability? You will answer this according to your view of sin.

Is sin inherent to us all, as biblical scripture proclaims, or is the notion of sin a dinosaur that needs to be buried once for all? Your view of government’s role and size is dependent on your belief about sin.

No matter what direction you look – historic validation, academic research, or religious truth – the facts don’t lie. It is not power that corrupts; it is sin that corrupts.  In order to retrieve California from the brink, the messages derived from a Christian worldview must be broadcast further into California’s varied communities.

Ideologies are rooted in either mankind being inherently good and able to evolve into higher levels of “goodness,” or mankind is born into sin and requires a supernatural redemption of heart and mind. In this epic battle, discussions about tolerance and diversity are important, but they fall far short of answering questions about what accomplishes the greater good for all.

Like the founders of this country, the ethnic populations mentioned above have experienced the depravity of man, and though not perfect, the American experiment has provided freedom and mercy to them, because of the Christian worldview.

This is why California Family Council is committed to ongoing training in worldview through the Truth Project resource. But it doesn’t end there. There are many additional steps that must be taken in our work for California’s future. Stay tuned.
