It’s TWO Gifts in One!
This week California Family Council received a pledge for a gift that could total as much as $50,000 when all is said and done! It may surprise you to know that the offer comes from a family in the mid-west part of the country. They will match every dollar given to CFC, up to $25,000 out of their own pocket!
People in other states – and other countries – are looking to California, to our politics, and to our courts. “As California goes, so goes the nation” is more true than we may recognize, or want to admit! At California Family Council, we know that our successes do not end at our state’s borders.
For example, during the Prop 8 campaign I was informed of conversations among leaders in Egypt and China, as both awaited California’s decision on marriage to see how their countries may be impacted.
The passage of Prop 8 gave encouragement to people in other states to push back against the “powers that be,” and nationally we are seeing a growing confidence in the authority of government “by the people.” It is no surprise that the Tea Party movement has gained momentum, as citizens are no longer willing to be shut out of decisions that affect so many areas of their own lives!
Will you please consider a generous contribution to CFC today? The pledge from a concerned family will double your gift, from $25 to $50 or $1,000 to $2,000. With your participation today, the total goal of $50,000 could be met by this evening!
Our promise is to extend CFC’s reach into more arenas of influence throughout the state. It is all about relationships and networks – that is where the power to transform culture begins, on the human level.
As I spoke to a group of citizens at a church this past week, it was encouraging to see the passion. But even more encouraging was the presence in the audience of their senior pastor, who shepherds hundreds of families in a very large congregation! We are so excited to bring an awareness of issues to clergy and other influencers, and to foster relationships between them and their elected representatives.
However, there are costs to our work of research and writing, strategic planning and travel, communications and administration, and relationship building and events.
