Simple Suggestions to Improve Education

by Ron Prentice

Very few people can articulate pragmatic truth better than radio talk show host Dennis Prager. So I’ll leave today’s heavy lifting to him, by directing you to an article he released in July of last year.

But first, a little background: This week in a regional forum I asked the group what they believe are the most serious threats to California and America. The responses were many, but included:

  • Disregarding and denying the heritage of America’s founding
  • The influx of radical Islam
  • The loss of religious freedom
  • Formal education watered down by political correctness
  • The breakdown of marriages and families

There is plenty of threat and blame to go around, but the subsequent discussion consistently came back to education as a primary problem, and a huge part of the necessary “fix.”

In my opinion, Prager’s A Speech Every American High School Principal Should Give provides a jumpstart to what could be the rescue of the American education system. Link here to read it. If this article strikes a nerve in you – positive or negative – I will appreciate your feedback! Link here to offer your thoughts.

California Family Council activities
Today through next Saturday finds me on the road, with a speaking engagement tonight to a group of impassioned citizens looking for practical ways to impact our culture, Truth Project training seminars this Saturday and next, attendance at the oral argument hearing for Prop 8 in San Francisco’s federal district courtroom, meetings and lunches with groups of pastors and with potential donors to CFC’s work, and meetings regarding the California budget and two initiatives that may reach the 2012 ballot.

As you think of it, please pray for CFC’s protection and progress, and for the rule of law to be accurately and courageously upheld in the Prop 8 case. And as you’re able, please contribute financially to our work. Thank you!
