What is the Level of our Concern?

by Ron Prentice,
Chief Executive Officer

The legislative bill to force the inclusion of homosexual, bisexual and transgender orientation into the California social science curriculum has moved one step closer to passage.  Take a moment to imagine the confusion public school children will experience when they are introduced to different sexual orientations.  Unsuspecting parents may never know of this content, or its affect on their own children.

Yesterday, California’s senators passed
Senate Bill 48 by a 23-14, party line vote.  The bill now moves to the State Assembly for committee hearings and a potential floor vote.

In spite of a strong collaborative effort by many pro-family organizations, and significant communications from citizens seeking “no” votes from their elected representatives, Democrat Senators were deaf to the pleas.

How is it that representatives may choose to disregard the will of those who placed them into office?  Simply, because they can!  The majority members of the California Legislature have no fear of pro-life, pro-family voters, yet.

Will there ever come a day again in California’s future where the strong majority of those we elect to office will be committed to godly principles?  That is up to you and me.

There are many reasons for California’s current legislative and fiscal circumstances:
  • We lack awareness of leadership’s decisions and their consequences
  • We are indifferent to the circumstances of our “neighbors”
  • We give blind trust to those we elect, and to public school leadership
  • We reject authoritative truth, and its Author

The people of California require an “awakening.”
Because you’re reading this, I know that you do not fit the conditions above.  But there are many who do within our families, our network of friends, our co-workers, and our churches.

We can’t expect someone else to accomplish the labor for change.  We can’t only rely on our clergy to inform us and motivate us.  In the awakenings of the past, the action of prayer and repentance brought about cultural transformation.  When people do their own work of confession in preparation for seeking the will of God, He will respond with supernatural activity.

Action items:

1.     Forward CFC’s updates to your extended network (awareness)

2.     Read CFC’s monthly prayer guide for individuals and groups (vs. indifference)

3.     Identify and support godly people for government leadership (vs. blind trust)

4.     Participate in, and then lead, Truth Project small groups (authoritative truth)
