“What Is Truth?”

“The single most important question any human being can ask, is the question “What is Truth?” –Ravi Zacharias

In a recent study, the Barna Research Group revealed a stunning statistic that continues to reverberate throughout the nation. Only 9 percent of professing Christians have a biblical worldview.

Because of this, today’s believers live very similarly to non-believers. A personal sense of significance is rarely experienced. Christians spend their money and time on things, and behave in ways that fail to satisfy. They then begin to wonder what life’s ultimate purpose really is. We are, in short, losing our bearings as a people, a state and a nation.

In response to this alarming trend, Focus on the Family launched one of the most ambitious and powerful projects in the history of its ministry – The Truth Project.

The Truth Project is a DVD-based small group study comprised of 13 one-hour lessons that practically and personally introduces viewers to the truth claims of God. The study is the starting point for looking at life from a biblical perspective. Each lesson is winsomely taught by Dr. Del Tackett and discusses in great detail the relevance and importance of living the Christian worldview in daily life.

We at California Family Council believe that The Truth Project represents the possibility for exponential change within the body of Christ in California, as we expect that hundreds of thousands will be transformed by this meaningful, transformational study. Since January 2008, CFC has trained nearly 3,000 potential small group leaders to facilitate the study in their homes and churches, and there are more training opportunities coming this fall.

As it has been throughout history, God continues to call ordinary people to make an eternal difference in our world. We invite you to be a part of this cultural change by participating in or leading a small group of your own. Contact us to learn how you can get involved in Focus on the Family’s The Truth Project.

“Truth is the search for the things that are most reliable, sustainable, absolute. Truth is the desire to have something that we really can put our trust in. Truth deserves to be tested. Truth is being tested in this age like no other, and the pursuit of truth ultimately necessitates a kind of struggle; a struggle with ourselves, a struggle with the environment we live in, a struggle with those who maintain that they have a position that’s superior to ours, a struggle to really weigh all of the proposals and the answers and ideas and come up with something we can really rely on.”

“The risks of pursuing truth are tremendous. And what could be a greater adventure than to risk everything in pursuit of the one thing that endures. If truth isn’t worth all that, then it probably isn’t truth at all.” – Gordon Pennington
